2nd February 2010

Hullo dear reader from the withering heights of the Blue Mountains. Hope the summer has been kind.
I am looking forward to getting back out on the road. Why? Because that job at the saw mill didn't work out... and because I am happy to be involved with a couple of albums out through ABC/Universal rule  soon.

This modest solo effort...

I recorded in Vegas (brisvegas) turned out to be seven songs from the past four albums (played solo this  time) two new tunes and version 1504 of Irving Berlin's "My Walking Stick" ( that I found on a Leon Redbone album and transposed for people with horses hooves for hands)... It's been a constant at both solo and band shows for as long as I can remember.(which admidedly isn't very long)... what was I saying?

...Anyway, drop by again soon as a growing list of shows across the country comes together.

For now enjoy the little bird.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FOLKS !

For the first time in about a decade I am taking a holiday till mid Jan.
"Why so short" I hear you say...

Snuck up to Brisbane last week to return to Jamie Trevaskis's glorious lounge room and commit the back bone of a solo record to tape. Till I find out that Karen Dalton has an album with the same name,It will be called "Ten Years at the Table"... (NOT ten years under the table). With their blessing it will be out through ABC/Universal quite soon... Late Feb Early March AND I will tour it Nationally in April.

In other news the new Wilson Pickers album which will NOT be called "Return to the Land of the Powerful Owl", tempting as it is, is nearly mixed and sounding surprisingly musical. I saw fellow picker and recipient of a state of the art NEW HIP , Danny Widdicombe looking less and less like a calamari in Vegas too so by
March when we begin to release that record he will be raring to go.

Thanks folks for coming out in support of live music. Me and the monkeys here at Nugecorp appreciate your feedback in the too many options worlds of virtuality
flying past your noses at any given second. Employee of the month again, Cam Russell will now show you the exit via the shop.

Gone Fishing.

25th November 2009

Gday All.

As you can probably see from the few shows left on the calender I am nearly to the end of what has been another action packed year of music. Those pesky party people THE WILSON PICKERS will be partying like it's the 1880s at THE ARIAS tomorrow night.Us and C.W. will arrive on the red carpet by camel at about 5 to ask after the moonshine.I'm sure there will be something salatious to report back.Look out for fellow picker, world's rudest man, Danny Widdicombe stepping out on his old hip for the last time. We will be taking a coupla months off over the summer while Danny gets a new state of the art hip. BUT! we look forward to seein your smiling toothless grins early in 2010 when we head out to launch "SHAKE IT DOWN" ... the new album. So far we are booked for Tamworth,Apollo Bay and WA Blues and Roots Fest...

But Watch this space...

and watch the arias to get a grimpse of us cheering on C.W.

While Danny heads off to the lab for improvements it looks I will be studio bound to record a solo record that the ABC/Universal will put out in 2010.I turned and
realised it's been about 20 years since I started writing music and the good people reckon it's time to release some of the more enduring songs in the solo domain that
most of them have travelled within.I guess if you have any requests you could forwarrd them through www.myspace.com/simenugent.

To those who have made enquiry about the mighty pretty Castlemaine Music Festival at Lot 19 Castlemaine (STREET HOTROD CAPITOL OF AUSTRALIA) Victoria... The event went
off in every sense in March of this year and we are working towards another event around Melbourne cup weekend in 2010. Please hold back on those applications till next year. But definately include it in your new years resolutions.

....and that ,to whoever is listening, is about that. Next month I am gonna give away some music... FOR FREE! because as most musicians will tell you "Money!...PFFFPhoowy!"

Roll on Summer.
